Basic Setup - PCCharge
Top  Previous  Next

There are just a few steps required to set up Campground Master for integration with PC Charge. Below are the steps for setting up a single-user setup or the master workstation in a networked setup.

1.Make sure the "PCCharge Pro" or "PCCharge Payment Server" process is running and configured appropriately.
Note: You should add a PCCharge shortcut to the "Startup" group so that it runs automatically when your computer starts, since it must be running in order for processing to work with Campground Master. If you're not sure how to do this, please contact your computer administrator.
2.In Campground Master, go to Maintenance / Credit Cards / Processing Setup, and check the "Enable..." box
3.Enter a user number, using 1 for the first workstation, or a unique number greater than 1 for other workstations. IMPORTANT: If you are processing cards from multiple computers, you must also use a multiple-user version of PC Charge, and each computer must have a different User number set here. (See networked setup steps below)
4.Select "PCCharge" for the type of processing software used.
5.Click "PCCharge Settings" and enter the settings as required (see below). The defaults are set to work with most PCCharge installations, but if changes were made to PCCharge configurations then you may need to adjust the settings here to match.
6.Set other options as desired in the Credit Card Processing Setup dialog (see Processing Setup Options).

For networked setups where PCCharge is running on the Campground Master "master" workstation, typically there are only a couple steps for setting up the Campground Master clients:

1.Go to Maintenance / Credit Cards / Processing Setup, check "Enable...",
2.Enter a unique user number (starting at 2 for the first client, since the master will be 1),
3.Select "Send processing requests to the Master workstation". (Note the Exception below.)
4.Select any other options desired.

Exception: If you will be using two separate Merchant ID's, then each computer must access PC Charge directly. So in step 2 above, select the option "Processing software is installed on this computer". Then you must also go configure the PC Charge Settings Dialog (below) the same as for the main computer. Note that PC Charge does not necessarily need to be installed on each computer -- it will just appear that way to Campground Master.

You also have the option to bypass the master and set each one up to communicate with PCCharge directly, even if not using separate merchant ID's. This could improve performance, but requires that each computer be set up appropriately, and also that any firewalls are configured to unblock the necessary port, etc.

PCCharge Configuration

In order to work with Campground Master, PCCharge must be set up for Secure TCP/IP Integration. To configure this in PCCharge:

1.Go to Setup / Configure System
2.Check the box "Use Default Processor".
3.We also recommend that you UNCHECK the box "Require duplicate transactions to be forced". Otherwise, you will be unable to charge the same amount to a credit card twice in one day (e.g. for 2 reservations or 2 similar purchases).
4.Click the Advanced button, then click Configure IP Settings
5.Make sure that the "Enable standard TCP/IP Integration" box is unchecked.
6.Check the "Enable Secure TCP/IP Integration" box.
7.You will need the port number, but it may be "blacked out". To see it, use the mouse to drag/swipe over it to "highlight" it. The default is 31405, but you can change it if desired.
8.You must also select a Certificate: Choose "Current User" for the Store Location, and choose "MY" for the Store Name, and click Display Store.
9.Select the "PCCharge Default Certificate" option, then click OK. If you get an error that the certificate is not found or is not valid, you need to contact PC Charge support to get a new certificate.
10.Click OK's all the way out.

IMPORTANT : For a multi-user system, a PCCharge User must be set up for each workstation. These users must have the name "UserX", where X is a number, e.g. "User1", "User2", and so forth. The numbers must match the User numbers entered in Campground Master's Credit Card Processing Setup for each workstation. To set up users in PCCharge, go to Setup, Users. User1 should already be there, and others may be also. Be sure to Add as many as needed (or change the names to conform to the "UserX" format, if you're not using an Unlimited user license).

PCCharge Settings Dialog

PCCharge settings are accessed through Maintenance / Credit Cards / Processing Setup, and clicking the "PCCharge Settings" button (only available if "PCCharge" is selected as the processing software used).

PCCharge IP address -- For the master, assuming it's the computer that has the PCCharge server installed on it, this should be 127.0.0.1 (a special address that means "this machine"). For other computers, e.g. if you don't use the "Send processing requests to the Master workstation" option for the clients, then this needs to be the IP address of the computer with the PCCharge server installed on it.

Port -- the must be the SSL port for PCCharge -- the default is typically 31405, but this can be changed through the PCCharge setup. This must match the port setting in PCCharge (under Setup / Configure System / Advanced / Configure IP Settings, check "Enable Secure TCP/IP Integration").

Cashier ID needed / Password -- For most versions of PC Charge, this option must be checked and the ID/password entered appropriately.

Merchant ID's -- These may be left blank if you only have one merchant ID for both swiped and keyed cards. Otherwise, enter the 2 merchant ID's here. Note: If you use 2 separate merchant ID's, then you must also fill in the Processor ID below.

Processor ID -- Normally you would configure PCCharge to use the "default processor" as described above. If you've specifically set up PC Charge to use multiple processors or multiple merchant ID's and can't use the default processor option, then you can enter the specific processor ID here. The Processor ID will be something like VISA -- see the processor configuration in PC Charge. Usually you will just enter the part in parenthesis here.
